Netflix set to expand into New York

Netflix is expanding into New York. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in an announcement Friday that the streaming service is planning to build a new production hub in Manhattan. The move is expected to create hundreds of high-paying jobs, and bring up to $100 million in investments into the city. Netflix has also indicated plans to build six sound stages in Brooklyn, which are also expected to hold thousands of production crew jobs. Netflix has shot multiple projects in New York , including “Orange is the New Black” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”

Soon you might have to be 21 years old to buy cigarettes. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is introducing a bill that would raise the minimum age to buy tobacco to 21 -- up from 18. The legislation will be introduced next month, and will cover all tobacco products, including cigarettes and vapes. About 12 states have already raised the age, but this is the strongest support the effort has seen in Congress. According to the CDC, more than 90% of smokers try their first cigarette before they turn 18 years old.

Lime's Scooters will be able to tell when you're too drunk to ride. The company's CEO said Lime is working on sensors that will detect when the scooters are wobbly, and will automatically slow them down. This comes as a new study found that e-scooters are officially more popular than ride-share bikes.
