Police say a Bay Ridge church's support of the LGBTQ community led to a threat left on their voicemail.
Union Church of Bay Ridge's pastor says he is staying vigilant after receiving the threatening voicemail telling him to take down a rainbow flag on the church's bulletin board. He says he has faith that the Lord will protect the church against any attacks.
The person who left the message says he will take a crowbar to get rid of the LGBTQ display, and says to "take it down, or lose everything."
The pastor says he notified the NYPD's Hate Crime Unit, and is now working with them to investigate the incident.
When word spread about the potential hate crime, the community came together to put rainbow ribbons on a fence in solidarity.
The pastor says the church will keep the flag up and continue to welcome everyone to their services.
