Police say an 83-year-old woman was found dead with trauma to her head and torso Tuesday.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 393 Powell St. Tuesday at 11:48 p.m. Officers found Jacolia James unconscious and unresponsive on the floor inside her apartment at the Carter G. Woodson Complex. EMS pronounced James dead at the scene.

There have not yet been any arrests.

James had six kids, more than a dozen grandkids, more than three dozen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family is asking for anyone with information about her death to come forward.  Police are offering a $2,500 reward for anyone who has any information that could help them find the person responsible.

NYCHA referred a News 12 question about security in the building to police, who had no comment on the ongoing investigation.
