State officials on Friday laid out plans to secure the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach this Memorial Day weekend.
Officials expect 350,000 to 400,000 people between Friday and Sunday at Jones Beach. Friday was the practice day for stunt pilots, but plenty of people still came out to watch them. For that reason, official says they have now decided to increase security on the Friday before the air show to the standards usually reserved for the weekend.

The New York State Parks tactical team will be in camouflage, walking the boardwalk with machine guns. In addition, there will be K-9 units and trucks and cement barriers for all walkways to make sure no vehicles can get through.
Surveillance cameras have also been placed throughout Jones Beach and on roadways to ensure safety.
Parks regional director George Gorman says this Friday marked an attendance record before the air show proper, at around 66,000 people at Jones Beach.
The air show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are among the headliners of the 16th annual show.
