A former Nutley woman known as "Tan Mom" -- who emerged from a medically-induced coma last week -- talked recently to the New York Post and on the Howard Stern Radio Show about the ordeal.
Patricia Krentcil, 51, told the Post on the phone, “My whole body died. I was proclaimed dead. It was so sad."
Krentcil went on to say, "I had a breakdown in my body. My whole system just collapsed."
Her relatives told the Post that Krentcil had pneumonia, pancreatitis and a lung infection.
The relatives say they are still concerned about her health.
Krentcil made headlines back in 2012 when she was accused of taking her then-5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth. Investigators said the incident resulted in severe burns on the child’s body.
Krentcil was charged with child endangerment and pleaded not guilty. She was never indicted, but gained fame due to her own extremely tan skin.
Krentcil went on to become somewhat of a “reality TV star” and released several songs and music videos.
