The president of the MTA held a conversation in Marble Hill Thursday on the plan to improve buses and bus routes in the Bronx.

It was the third time the MTA held a meeting for the redesigned Bronx bus network as part of their Fast Forward plan to modernize the transit system.

In order to help relieve issues, the MTA says it will design a plan with easy connections and frequent, all-day bus service, streamlined bus routes that are more direct and improved service going from east to west.

In order to avoid moving at a slow speed and endure regular traffic on the Major Deegan Expressway, the MTA says buses would be rerouted to operate via Inwood to the Henry Hudson Parkway, then to Riverside Drive before getting to Manhattan.

The MTA's president says traveling patterns have changed for people in the Bronx, where not everyone is commuting into Manhattan for work. They say they are trying to meet those needs.

The final plan will be released in September, and will be followed by another round of public outreach.
