Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is warning seniors and people with chronic health conditions to take special precautions during the heat wave.

Patricia Stradford, who has chronic pulmonary illness sarcoidosis, says if she's not careful in the heat, she could lose her life.

Stradford is one of the thousands of local residents, who are either senior citizens or suffering from chronic health conditions, that need to take special care during this hot weather.

Ganim issued a special advisory Saturday and reminded people who are vulnerable during ordinary conditions to remember that cooling centers are open for anyone in need of relief.
