Dozens came together for a 2K run in honor of Eric Garner Sunday despite high temperatures in Prospect Park.

The Run for Justice was organized by Eric Garner's cousin, Jason Fulford, in partnership with The Running Edge and Overthrow NYC.

The runners chanted, "No justice, no peace," as they completed the course around Prospect Park. Runners also wore shirts with faces of people who died in incidents that many have called police brutality.

The family members of Eric Garner were present at the event and say they were happy to see the support for the run that honors him.

The event comes after the U.S. Attorney General's office announced they would not file charges against the officers involved in Garner's death. Garner died in an apparent chokehold after police tried to arrest him in 2014.

Garner's family says they will continue to take part in events like this one to prevent incidents like what happened to Eric Garner from ever happening again.
