Con Ed faced some heat from customers and elected officials after thousands were left in the dark the day after extreme temperatures caused power outages across Brooklyn.
Con Edison says the outages affected thousands of customers across Southeast Brooklyn. Some of the affected neighborhoods included Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Prospect Heights, Canarsie, Flatlands, Mill Basin and Georgetown.
About 33,000 customers faced outages, some of whom had to wait more than a day to get power back, despite Con Edison saying things would be up-and-running by Monday morning.
"At this point, I said earlier in the week that I was having trouble trusting them, I can't trust them at this point because I'm not getting any real answers and they have let New Yorkers down once again," says Mayor de Blasio.
The NYPD dispatched extra officers to the affected neighborhoods. Con Ed was also seen in some areas handing out dry ice to keep fridges and freezers cool and prevent food from spoiling.
