Police: Long Island man fatally shot in Brooklyn
Police say a man from Long Island was fatally shot Friday on Atlantic Avenue.
Police say they received a ShotSpotter notification around 3:15 a.m. and found 29-year-old Noman Saleemi laying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Saleemi, a taxi driver, lived on Long Island and was just two days shy of starting a new job.
Police do not believe his occupation and the crime are related.
Saleemi owned a red Nissan Altima, which was stolen during the crime. Police say his wallet was found five blocks from the crime scene.
"He was dumped there like as if he was an animal, a dog," says Rizwan Saleemi, Noman's brother. "The person who committed this crime is a ruthless person."
The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers president believes he was lured to the area because it was isolated. His last job was picking up a 70-year-old woman from Resorts World Casino in Queens.
The federation is offering a $5,000 reward for any information. Police are still searching for the suspect.
