Some Coney Island residents protested Saturday against possible plans to build a ferry dock along the shoreline of Coney Island Creek in Kaiser Park.
Residents say initial proposals had the ferry docking near Bay View Avenue and West 33rd Street. But they say construction workers have started working near the water along Kaiser Park.
Residents say they worry how the construction will disrupt people’s park activities and the surrounding wildlife. They say they will continue to fight any plans that would bring the dock to the shore.
News 12 reached out to the city's Economic Development Corporation for a comment. They responded with a statement that says in part, "NYC EDC is still in the process of determining a location that is feasible based on physical site evaluations and constraints. We will continue to keep the community informed of our next steps."
