A local business owner celebrated the 25th anniversary of his clothing store with a fashion show.
It was just last year that Moshood Afariogun feared he would have to shut down his store, Mooshood Creations, due to rent increases.
The store was a staple in the Fort Greene neighborhood but relocated to Bed-Stuy due to the financial challenges.
Attendees at the event held on Monday say they're glad to see the business thriving. Elected officials also came out to recognize the milestone.
"He was one of the first entrepreneurs in the black community, especially in the fashion industry that was also Nigerian and so accessible to all of us…," said long-time customer Rabiat Onikute Arifu. “Always encouraging, kind of like a big brother to everybody."
The staff says they hope the store will be around for years to come.
