A man in Midwood who has had problems with his mail for months is teaming up with elected officials to get answers.

Dr. Robert Solomon lives along Ocean Avenue in Midwood, and says he's had issues with the United States Postal Service for the past nine months.
"My mail doesn't come, or it arrives extraordinarily late or it’s been coming opened," says Dr. Solomon.

Dr. Solomon says he's had mail delivered that's been tampered with.
"The material that was opened was financial material. Most recently a check came in the mail and was opened just in the area where you could open it up to look in and see how much the check was made out for," says Dr. Solomon.

More frequently, he says some envelopes don't even make it to his mailbox.
The issue is more common when his usual mailman is off and whoever fills in, he says makes a lot of mistakes.

"Mail is literally all over the place. You will see the day after or later in the day after it's been delivered. The entire top of the mailboxes lined it with mail that was in the wrong box or from a different building not even with similar names or similar addresses or similar streets," says Dr. Solomon.

He says his building isn't the only one experiencing the inconveniences.

"Just the other day I spoke to a neighbor, the one who delivered my mail from her building saying the same thing happens in her building"

He reached out to Sen. Chuck Schumer and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, but he says the issues have continued.
The congresswoman's office said in a statement, they’ve “received recent complaints about mail tampering and their staff is committed to helping constituents."
Meanwhile, the U.S. Postal Service tells News 12 it has no records of any formalized constituent inquiries from the congressional office.
