A Boogie wit da Hoodie was in the Bronx Thursday giving out backpacks to students getting ready for the school year.
Hundreds of backpacks were stuffed by Puma, which sponsored the event at Jimmy Jazz in Fordham.
The artist spoke with kids and parents inside the store, and many were shocked that the Bronx-raised artist known for hits like "Drowning" and "Look Back At It" would be giving them supplies to get ready for school.
Jimmy Jazz says it is planning more events for the community.
Parents say they're happy to see artists like A Boogie wit da Hoodie come back to where he got his start.
