A mother and her son have been educating different schools about what it’s like to be visually impaired.

Gracie Benedith-Cane created Braille Code, Inc. to help her visually impaired son dress himself independently in the morning. Since then, Benedith-Cane created a book for other children to understand what visually impaired children go through.

The book, “What’s Cool About Braille Code School?” follows three blind mice on their first day of school.

Her son, Wani, was born with septo-optic nerve dysplasia, which created many challenges. While visiting the schools and reading from the book, Wani shows off how he reads with his fingers.

“Sighted kids are very amazed because there is no curriculum…that teaches sighted kids about blind children,” says Benedith-Cane.
