September is National Family Meals Month and also a time to bring attention to the benefits of eating together as a family.
The ShopRite located at Bruckner Boulevard is making family dinner a little easier for those who may not have a lot of time to prepare. It has created quick meals you can have on the table, even on the busiest days.
Studies by the Food Marketing Institute show that taking the time from a busy schedule to have a family meal has a positive impact on the entire family.
The FMI says those who have family meals are less likely to suffer from depression and obesity.
Retail dietitian Nicole Ebratt says one of the things that may stand in the way of a family meal is the time constraints.
"If you do eat with your family, there's a 24% increase in fruits, vegetables and healthier options," says Ebratt.
