WASHINGTON, D.C. -

News 12 is getting a look at a letter from President Donald Trump to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The White House released the letter dated Oct. 9, which was the same day the Turkish offensive into Syria began.

In the letter, Trump tells Erdogan "let's work out a good deal", and warns him not to "be a tough guy!"

President Trump also tells Erdogan he could destroy Turkey's economy if the situation in Syria is not contained and resolved in a humane way, saying “don’t let the world down” and “don’t be a fool!”

Trump also warns history will look at Erdogan "forever as the devil if good things don't happen."

He ends the letter by saying "history will look upon you favorably if you get this done the right and humane way."
