Preston High School in Throgs Neck held its fourth annual Halloween event Saturday, but with the new addition of a haunted mansion tour at night.

During the daytime, children enjoyed getting their faces painted, eating cotton candy, getting balloon animals, playing carnival games, jumping in a bouncy house and decorating their own pumpkins.

Saturday night, teenagers can check out the school's mansion, which has been transformed into a haunted house.

The mansion is a fully operational building that the school uses for class and offices.

The school's director of communications, Grace Fragale, says it's a historic mansion. She adds that the whole event sprung from the idea of “The Legend of Archie.”

"[Archie] was this presence that has been rumored to wander the Preston halls. It's kind of a haunted tour through the historic Preston mansion,” Fragale said.

Organizers say this event takes them months to prepare. They say Throgs Neck is a close-knit community, so they are happy that families here make this event a part of their own festivities.
