Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza were in Brooklyn Thursday making a big announcement about college enrollment numbers in New York City.
"Today we are announcing that more NYC public school kids are going on to higher education than ever before in our history," said de Blasio.
According to the mayor's office, over 48,000 students in the class of 2018 enrolled in college. That is up 8,000 since the start of his administration.
De Blasio attributed the city's Equity and Excellence For All agenda, which provides resources for students to graduate with a college and career plan.
It also exposes middle school students to college campuses early.
