Storm bringing rain, sleet, snow to Brooklyn

Posted: Updated:

The first winter storm of the season is bearing down on the borough, bringing a mess of rain, sleet and snow that will last through Monday.

Following the mixed precipitation on Sunday, overnight hours are seeing scattered showers, with the heaviest arriving before midnight before tapering to showers by morning.

Part two of the storm moves in Monday, with showers in the morning that will change to snow as temperatures drop through the day. Some light accumulations of a slushy coating to three inches are possible by the evening, especially in areas of the city farther north.

The storm is expected to bring the brunt of the snow to areas north of New York City -- upper portions of the Hudson Valley could see significant snowfall. But Thanksgiving travelers returning home to the borough from those areas could be dealing with travel headaches from the storm.

The timing and track of the storm will affect any possible accumulations, so be sure to stick with News 12 for the very latest forecast information.
