Over the years, companies have come and gone, but one Norwalk business has stood the test of time.
Deering Construction is celebrating the company's 100th anniversary this year. Dan Deering started the company that family members say was founded on hard, old school values.
One of the company's first projects was the construction of the Merritt Parkway. Deering did the bridges from Greenwich to Fairfield, and even the Cloverleaf Interchange in Norwalk.
After all these years, values instilled in the company have helped it stand above the rest.
"Work hard and don't quit. It's a struggle. Business in Connecticut is a struggle, there's lots of obstacles against us every day," says Mike Deering.
Troy Deering is the family's fifth generation in the business, and he's excited to see their progress continue.
"We have the chance to push this thing forward, and now is the time to do it, or else something that's been around so long could disappear," says Troy Deering.
