Students in Great Neck are putting weeks of work to the test Saturday as part of a global robotics competition.
More than 40 teams local to the area took months to build the technology from scratch. It is part of First Tech Challenge -- a worldwide competition involving 69,000 students around the world.
The goal is to keep students interested in STEM. Students say the impact is bigger than winning or losing.
"It's a fun time, even if it is early in the morning on a Saturday. Even if we didn't get a lot of sleep. We still get to be here and that something we should take advantage of and have the best time we can," said Ethan Rogowsky.
