The former attorney and friend of Fotis Dulos appeared in court Thursday in connection to the disappearance and killing of Jennifer Dulos.
Kent Mawhinney pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder charges in connection to the case of the missing New Canaan mother.
Mawhinney has been in custody on a $2 million bond since his arrest Jan. 7.
Thursday's appearance was Mawhinney's second court appearance in the case but his first since his codefendant Fotis Dulos killed himself.
Mawhinney's arrest warrant accuses him of conspiring with Dulos to kill Jennifer Dulos last May. In those court documents, state police say Mawhinney was at Dulos' office the morning Jennifer disappeared to provide him with a fake alibi.
They say his name was found in what investigators are calling "alibi scripts" made by Dulos and then- girlfriend Michelle Troconis.
Court documents also say Dulos called Mawhinney hours after the murder, while Dulos and Troconis were dumping evidence soaked with Jennifer's blood in a Hartford neighborhood.
In addition, the warrant links Mawhinney to what police believe was a pre-dug human grave at a gun club in East Granby.
On Thursday, chief state's attorney Rich Colangelo told the judge he is still waiting to get discovery from state police.
Mawhinney's hearing lasted less than a minute and he did not speak during it. However, after the trial, it appeared he passed a note from his shirt pocket to one of his attorneys.
Both of Mawhinney’s attornies, Lee Gold and Jeremy Donnelly, left the courthouse without addressing the media.
Mawhinney is also charged with sexual assault and violating a protective order in connection to incidents with his own estranged wife.  A deal in that case may be dependent on what happens in the Dulos case.
Fotis' former girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
He is expected to appear back in Stamford court on Mar. 31.
