3 construction workers injured after scaffolding collapses

Posted: Updated:

Three construction workers were injured in a scaffolding collapse in Williamsburg on Thursday.

Investigators say that around 2:30 p.m., workers were adjusting and dismantling sections of the scaffolding on the side of the building at 535 Grand St. when it collapsed.

It fell onto the neighboring building, causing extensive damage to the roof.

The fire chief on scene tells News 12 the residents there likely won't be able to return anytime soon.

Firefighters say the three construction workers suffered minor injuries.

The FDNY has deemed the front of the building safe and secure.

The Department of Buildings says the project involved converting a three-story building into a six-story building. It says the general contractor for the alteration project is Global Home Improvements, and the contractor for the scaffolding is J&G Construction Services.
