New Jersey native musician Adam Schlesinger has died from complications from the coronavirus, according to a report in Variety.
Schlesinger was an Emmy-winning songwriter and co-founder of the band Fountains of Wayne. It was reported Tuesday that he had been put on a ventilator after contracting the virus earlier this month.
Schlesinger grew up in Montclair and attended Montclair High School. He co-founded the band Fountains of Wayne in 1995. The band is named after an actual fountain store in Wayne Township, also called Fountains of Wayne. The band is best known for its early-2000s hit “Stacy’s Mom.”
Schlesinger is survived by his ex-wife and two daughters. He was 52 years old.
