Councilman Fernando Cabrera is proposing to park city and charter buses in neighborhoods so that students can access the Wi-Fi normally available on them.
He says it will be helpful to students who are being taught remotely and don't have access to Wi-Fi at home.
Cabrera says the initiative has been successful in other states, and that students are trying to complete work from parents' phones as they don't have the resources to properly do their school work.
He says adding Wi-Fi accessibility to low-income neighborhoods will stop students from falling behind in this time of crisis.
Cabrera says the proposal can be done fairly quickly, and that the buses have accessibility to provide Wi-Fi outside of its walls.
