Brooklyn BP Adams calls for prioritized grocery checkouts, testing sites for health care workers

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is calling for first responders and health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic to have prioritized checkout at grocery stores and dedicated testing sites amid concerns about the workers' wellbeing.
Adams joined several unions representing workers to push for the care and treatment on Saturday.
The borough president says that because so many workers have tested positive for the virus, city and state officials should implement dedicated testing sites.
He's also calling on grocery stores across the city to roll out prioritized checkouts for the workers, who he says are struggling to get the basic necessities after their shifts are over.
The co-president of PSK Supermarkets, which owns Foodtown Grocery Stores, echoed Adams' push and announced an initiative to put health care workers first. Health care workers and responders can show their IDs to get throuch checkout lanes as quickly as possible.
Adams says he's hoping for every grocery store in the city to follow Foodtown's lead.
