Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced there are more than 16,600 positive cases of COVID-19 in the county. In addition, the state has reported a total number of 500 deaths of county residents.

As of Monday, there was a total of 2,181 hospitalizations in the county, an increase of 81 patients. Of those, 473 people are on ventilators – an increase of 19.
A total of 151 patients discharged from the hospital on Monday.

"This is the second day in a row the number of discharges is larger than increase in admissions. If that trend continues, that means this really is the plateau, it does give us a ray of hope," says Curran. "It shows social distancing is working."

Curran added that there have been long lines at three AFC Urgent Care locations for rapid testing, but reiterated that the tests have not been approved by the state or FDA for county use. They are hoping to get approval for them.
