Two best friends from the Bronx are doing their part to make sure families are fed during the coronavirus pandemic.
When Luis Rosario and Javier Dominguez are not working as doormen in Manhattan, they’re volunteering as deliverymen for the “Bronx Mobile Lunch” project.
“I like to sleep on my days off, but it definitely has changed since the whole pandemic started,” said Rosario.
It was Rosario’s coronavirus diagnosis last month that ultimately inspired their work. “I was home for 14 days where I couldn't move, I couldn't do anything... I realized how hard it was to actually be able to get food,” said Rosario.
Once he was back on his feet, the two best friends and co-workers launched “Bronx Mobile Lunch” to bring food to anyone who asks.
Each Wednesday, their day off, they fill the car with meals. The food is then given to people they spot on the street or delivered to an address they’ve been sent on Instagram.
As the weeks have gone by, the demand has grown. The guys tell News 12 they made six stops on Day 1. Today, they had 50 lined up.
