Two neighbors in Park Slope started a meal delivery fundraiser for hospitals, and they say donations have surpassed anything they could have imagined.
Chela in Park Slope is one of the restaurants that Meals for Health Care Heroes has linked up with, and they’re delivering 150 to 250 meals a week to nearby hospitals.
The meals are purchased with the money donated through the Meals For Health Care Heroes GoFundMe page.
Neighbors and co-founders Jessica Fields and Soni Sangha started with a fundraising goal of $4,000.
To date, they’ve raised over $135,000 and have donated 6,500 meals and countless cups of coffee to health care workers.
They say this has been a great way to connect the community and give people a way to help out.
The co-owner of Chela told News 12 that preparing and delivering meals for hospitals has got them back to work and helped them stay open.
