A pilot program announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo has partnered with an urgent care service that treats people at home - and they’ve been able to test hundreds of NYCHA residents without the patients having to leave their front doors. 

Senior Clinical Advisor Dr. Carl Marci tells News 12 Ready Responders can treat many different conditions. 

Partnering with the state, the company is now bringing COVID-19 testing services directly to people’s homes at eight different NYCHA complexes, including the Highbridge, Edenwald, and Andrew Jackson Houses in the Bronx and Brevort Houses in Brooklyn. 

Ready Responders is providing the services to those who live there at no cost. 

 

“Think of people who have any number of issues, sprained ankle, headaches, things that are happening all the time, we can send someone out and address those without someone ever having to leave their homes,” said Dr. Marci. 

Responder Abel Collado says it’s a way to keep people safe during the coronavirus pandemic. “Especially with the COVID-19 pandemic a lot of people don't want to go to the hospital and possibly get exposed to COVID-19 or other infectious diseases that are at the hospital,” said Collado. 

They’re completing 1,000 tests weekly. They have more than 100 workers and are continuing to grow to be able to test more people.
