A bipartisan group of lawmakers has unveiled a new plan to provide essential workers and their families who have suffered from the coronavirus. It’s called the 'Pandemic Heroes Compensation Act.’
Reps. Carolyn Maloney, Peter King and Jerry Nadler, as well as Sen. Tammy Duckworth, have announced a new plan to provide compensation for essential workers and their families who have become ill or died from the coronavirus.
The 'Pandemic Heroes Compensation Act' would apply to all essential workers across a variety of industries.
The elected officials behind the bill say it will be modeled after the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, but that they don't expect it will have some of the same challenges getting passed because of the number of people who have died throughout the country as a result of the virus.
The bill is expected to be introduced Friday and the leaders say they look forward to getting essential workers and their families the support they deserve.
