Gov. Cuomo: Bail should be set for looters exploiting peaceful protests

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said looting will not be tolerated in New York City and is asking district attorneys to “charge them appropriately.”
He says looters exploiting peaceful protests should be held on bail, so they don’t go out and loot again.
"It would be nonsensical if the police were arresting looters...then returned to the street to loot again," he said. “The law is the law.”

The governor says charging looters with burglary 2 can warrant cash bail.
He also said protesters should act as if they are infected with COVID-19 and should get tested to protect the public and their families.
