Robert DeCarlo, of Brooklyn, in custody in Flatlands Avenue hit-and-run that killed girl
FLATLANDS - A suspect is in police custody in connection to a hit-and-run accident that left a girl dead and two others critically injured.
Police say 26-year-old Robert DeCarlo, of Brooklyn, is in custody after turning himself in. DeCarlo is being questioned at the 62nd Precinct.
According to police, the crash happened Wednesday near the intersection of Flatlands Avenue and East 46th Street. Investigators say a 12-year-old girl, a 9-year-old girl and a 38-year-old woman were waiting for a bus when the driver of a stolen 2005 Dodge Caravan came barreling down Flatlands Avenue, jumped the curb and hit them. Investigators say the driver then took off on foot, leaving all three victims lying helpless on the ground.

The 12-year-old girl, identified as Joey Sellers, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and the 9-year-old were taken to Kings County Hospital in critical condition.
Police say DeCarlo has had several prior arrests on charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance, robbery, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
