County coroner in Wyoming announced Tuesday that Gabby Petito died by
strangulation about three to four weeks before her body was found.
The
coroner also confirmed Petito’s death was a homicide.
News 12 has obtained an
official document from the Teton County Coroner about Petito's cause and manner
of death. The cause is listed as “death by manual strangulation/throttling.”
As News 12
has reported, Petito was last seen alive Aug. 25 when she facetimed with her
mother on a cross country trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie.

Petito’s body was found Sept. 19 in
Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park.
Meanwhile, Laundrie is still missing. He returned home to
Florida on Sept. 1, but vanished on Sept. 13, two days after Gabby was reported
missing.
Laundrie
is a person of interest in the case, but right now is only facing charges for
allegedly using Gabby's debit card.
