Web site to allow residents to challenge development
Bronx residents will soon be able to express their concerns and opinions about development in their neighborhoods, once the city launches a new Web site in March.
According to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, all zoning decisions in New York City will be posted on the city?s Web site for the public to consider. Residents will then have 30 days to challenge the decisions before the building borough commissioner will post a final decision online. The public will then have an additional 15 days to challenge the decision online.
After the 45-day period online, residents will be able to go to the Board of Standards and Appeals for final challenges.
Bloomberg says the Web site will expedite construction in the city because developers will avoid zoning challenges late in the development period. The site will launch March 9.
