A local Assembly member has been on a four-year journey to bring resources to New York students with dyslexia and dysgraphia, and now his efforts are being signed into law.
The Dyslexia Task Force Act, spearheaded by Brooklyn Assembly member Robert Carroll, works to make the proper resources and support available for all New York students who suffer from either dyslexia or dysgraphia.
Carroll was diagnosed with dyslexia in the first grade, and his access to the proper resources inspired him to make sure that others receive the same.
"It's personal to me because I struggled with dyslexia as a young man,” said Carroll. “Making sure that students with dyslexia or dysgraphia are being identified and then receiving the proper supports and interventions that they deserve."
