Officials: DeKalb Avenue stabbing sends 1 to hospital; 1 in custody

Authorities say one person was hospitalized and another was taken into custody after an early morning stabbing.
Fire officials say it happened at Broadway and DeKalb Avenue shortly before 2 a.m.
Police say the suspect, identified as as 28-year-old Queens resident Terell Herring, entered a bodega, took a knife and stabbed a 27-year-old victim in the left eye.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital and is in stable condition.
Police say Herring was arrested a short time later and was found to be in the possession of cocaine.
Herring is being charged with assault, criminal possession of a controlled substances and other charges.
