A regulation banning dogs from Westport beaches has gone into effect.
The regulation went into effect on Monday April 1 and it's no joke.
Officials say no animals are allowed on beaches in Westport including grass, sand and parking areas.
The beaches include Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill beaches.
Officials say the only exception is the Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach.
The regulation will be in effect until Oct. 1.
