Annual Vicki Soto 5k honors her love of teaching and passion for education

Thousands took part in the 13th annual Vicki Soto 5K Saturday at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport.
Soto was killed protecting her students from a mass shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
The event not only celebrated Soto's life, but her love of teaching and passion for literacy.

Proceeds benefit Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships to high school seniors who plan to major in education.
