Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Amazon’s Black Friday Weekend Pricing.

The Democratic senator says that the retail giant raises prices on some products ahead of Black Friday and then lowers them just in time for the national spending spree.

"When shoppers see these so-called discounts on Amazon, they should be aware and wary,” Blumenthal says. “I'm calling for an investigation because some of the pricing tactics may be deceptive and misleading, with discounts that are, in fact, no lower than the original or ordinary prices."

He says the practice is not exclusive to Amazon, with many other retailers also engaging in it.
