A Cheshire man who filmed a random act of kindness went viral on TikTok and is now encouraging others to do the same.
Construction sites are dusty, dirty and loud - and the Civic Block Project along Newfield Avenue in Bridgeport is no exception.
It was just after Labor Day last September following a big rainstorm when project manager Kyle Norton showed up for work and heard something coming from a barrel. He tried to ignore it, but the sounds just got louder.
Not knowing what he would find, Norton started recording. Inside the barrel was an orange kitten, swimming, scared and helpless.
"It was absolutely close...really seemed on her last leg," said Norton. "Not really responsive or like stimulated by touch or anything."
Norton continued to care for the kitten before taking it to be checked out by a vet.
Videos have circulated of the rescue, posted on TikTok at different times - with one video at over 64 million views.
After a long family discussion, the stray cat found a home. With a new name, Lilo is now part of the Norton family and shares the couch with Winnie, the patient and gentle 120-pound St. Bernard.
Norton hopes he can inspire others to rescue injured animals.
Animal experts say to call your local animal control office or rescue group in your area if you find an injured or stray animal and are not sure what to do.
