Funeral procession held for 21-year-old fire recruit who died following training exercise
A
funeral procession was held in Nutley for a 21-year-old Irvington fire recruit who
died earlier this month following a training exercise.
Residents
came together to mourn the untimely death of Victor Melillo.
Officials
say Melillo collapsed on
March 4 during a training exercise
in the parking lot of the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy off
Hanover Avenue in Parsippany Township.
Several
first responders, including EMTs, quickly attended to Melillo. He was taken to
Morristown Medical Center, where he remained in the Critical Care Unit.
Melillo was a recruit with
the FMBA Local 14.
Service arrangements are
still being made for Melillo and will be announced at a later date.
