Gunman on the loose after shooting victim in chest in Yonkers

Yonkers police are searching for a gunman who shot a victim in the chest Thursday evening.
Police say a man was shot on Fortfield Avenue just after 6:30 p.m.
The 33-year-old victim was rushed to a trauma center in critical condition.
The suspect is believed to have fled the area in a white vehicle.
There is no word yet on what prompted the shooting. "You don't normally hear about anything here. That's why I was surprised to see the flashing lights and the police tape," says neighbor Derrick Riullano. "Been here over 30 years. Safe neighborhood. You know, you never understand why people do things," says neighbor Jeanette Gonzalez.
