The state’s attorney’s office has released surveillance video of a shooting involving an undercover Bridgeport officer.
The incident happened Tuesday near the corner of Main and Catherine streets.
Prosecutors say officers on a Task Force were trying to stop the car after getting a tip that people inside had a loaded gun and intended to use it.
Prosecutors say the driver tried to back up after being surrounded and ended up pinning a Bridgeport officer between the door and his cruiser.
Police say the car then started to drive toward the other officers.
That’s when one fired their weapon in the car.
The driver who was shot in the leg tells News 12 he didn’t understand why he understand why he was pulled over.
Police say a handgun was found in his car.
Police say none of the officers were wearing body cameras because they were undercover.
