NJ health commissioner: State’s COVID-19 test positivity rate is highest since January
New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli says New Jersey is in the midst of
"yet another COVID surge."
Persichilli joined North
Brunswick's virtual COVID-19 briefing this morning, saying the state's COVID-19
test positivity rate is at 12%, the highest it's been since the Omicron surge
in January.

"Although we're seeing high cases
and high positivity, our hospitalizations – and this is the good news –
although they're increasing, they are not increasing at a rate that we saw in
January and certainly not what we saw in March and April of 2020,"
says Persichilli.
The Department of Health
says COVID-19 is now the third leading cause of death in New Jersey, after
heart disease and cancer.
