PUMP PATROL: Gas prices continue to soar as holiday travel expected to increase

The national average for a gallon of gas has hit $4.52 a gallon.  
In New York, the average for a gallon of gas hit $4.81. Meanwhile, on Long Island, the average hit $4.83.  
Long Island average is up about 4 cents since Monday, about 22 cents in a week and about 77 cents from a month ago.  
Meanwhile, gas prices are going to affect many hitting the road for Memorial Day weekend.  
AAA released their holiday weekend travel prediction and they say more than 39 million Americans are expected to travel for the holiday weekend.  
That number is up 8.3% from last year.  
Most people will be hitting the road, about 89% of all travelers.  
Air travel will increase 25% over last year, meaning more than 3 million people will fly to their holiday weekend destination.
