The sidewalk of a local school is no longer serving as the community parking lot, thanks to a collaborative effort between The Brooklyn Green School and elected officials.
People say the ongoing problem of cars parking on the sidewalk along St. Marks Avenue in Crown Heights was threatening kids' safety, forcing them to walk on the street.
Many allege that this problem had been around for over 40 years, with a combination of vehicles from members of the NYPD's 77th Precinct and members of the community.
Councilmember Chi Osse says that he was able to work with Brooklyn Green School Principal Marcella Carr to solve this problem and keep the kids safe.
