2 Brooklyn schools scheduled to close
Two Brooklyn schools will close after a vote passed by the Department of Education policy panel.
The panel was held in Manhattan Wednesday night where officials voted to close the three schools due to poor test scores and student enrollment.
According to the DOE, M.S. 584 in Crown Heights and the Essence School in East New York will close by the end of the 2017 school year.
Two schools will also merge with other educational institutions, officials say. The Fredrick Douglass Academy IV Secondary School and Brooklyn Academy of Global Finance will join together.
The Automotive High School and Frances Perkins Academy will also merge.
A vote was also passed to close three schools in the Bronx.
