A popular ice cream shop has opened at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and it's getting people talking.
What was once the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is now Ample Hills Creamery.

The ice cream shop got its name from a poem, written by the owners' favorite poet, Walt Whitman.

"The thing that's magical about this space is this is actually the physical spot where Walt Whitman would've stood when he took the ferry across to Manhattan. He wrote a poem called ‘Crossing Brooklyn Ferry’ about taking a ferry from this very spot in the 1850s,” says owner Brian Smith.

The chain's newest location, out of more than a dozen, already has lines out the door after being open for just a few weeks.

The shop features a variety of ice cream flavors to choose from, and each location has its own unique flavor that can only be found at that specific shop.

"The flavor we have here is called 'I contain breakfast foods.' It's a play on another Walt Whitman line 'I contain multitude,’” says Smith.

Owners say they want the shop to be an ideal location for New Yorkers and tourists to enjoy their ice cream.

"You need to come to this spot and look at the bridge and stand on the pier and have ice cream,” says Smith.

Owners say that by next year, they're hoping to turn the second floor of the shop into a museum, so that customers can learn more about the shop's history and it's connection to Walt Whitman.
